EA has revealed thats its ambitious sequel, The Godfather II, won’t be making its release later this month, stating that the game will instead be released during the 2010 fiscal year. The reason for the delay is to generate more excitement about the game and to help it capitalize more on the major release.

Resident Evil 5 Demo Infects 1.8 Million

Capcom and Microsoft just announced that the Resident Evil 5 demo has eclipsed 1.8 million downloads since its availability on the Xbox Live Marketplace last week. Talk about being infectious.

The demo (which is now available on the PlayStation Network) beat out Force Unleashed‘s record for the most downloads in a one-week period, accumulating 1.3 million downloads during its first three days of availability. We’ve also learned that the demo’s Japanese kid brother, the Biohazard 5 demo, was accessed by 53% of all Japanese Xbox Live gold accounts. Which, in all reality, could be a few dozen gamers.

EA Announces New Need for Speed Games to Arrive 2009

Just as the majority of gamers gave up on NFS, EA have confirmed that three, yes three new Need for Speed games are to arrive this year! When speaking with Eurogamer, EA confirmed that the NFS series will continue throughout 2009 with Need for Speed: Shift on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PSP and PC, Need for Speed: Nitro on Nintendo DS and Wii, and last but not least Need for Speed: World Online for the Asian PC Market.

“Need for Speed: Shift will be made by Slightly Mad Studios of GT Legends and GTR 2 fame, with help from EA Black Box producer Michael Mann and EA Games Europe bigwig Patrick Soderlund.

Shift focuses on simulation racing – not just the realistic movement of cars, but also driver behaviour.”

“Nitro will be developed by EA Montreal and will be an arcade racer with a focus on “vibrant, eye-catching visuals.” World Online will be developed by Black Box and has the possibility of launching in the west if it does well in the Asian market. It will let you pick your car and “take on the rest of the world.”
